Clinical Study of the Therapeutic Effect of an Astemizole-Pseudoephedrine Combination in Perennial Allergic Rhinitis

Abstract
|
|
|
For the purpose of the therapeutic effect of astemizole 10mg_pseudoephedrine 120mg combination, one capsule daily for 15 days, the clinical study was carried out in 28 selected cases of perennial allergic rhinitis, who visited the department of otolaryngology of Soon Chun Hyang Chun An Hospital.
Following results were obtained.
1. The percentage of patients who showed therapeutic effect of each symptom was 92.9% (excellent.: 50.0%, good : 25.0%, moderate : 17.9%) in sneezing, 92.3% (excellent : 46.2%, good: 23. 1 %, moderate : 23.1%) in nasal obstruction, 92.0% (excellent : 56.0%, good : 20.0%, moderate: 16.0%) in rhinorrhea, 100% (excellent) in itchy nose, eye and palate and headache.
These were statistically very effective in treatment vs poor.(p<0.01).
2. The percentage of patients who showed therapeutic effect of total symptom was 82.1% (excellent.: 35.7% , good : 21.4% ; moderate : 25.0%).
This was statistically significant in difference vs poor(p<0.01).
3. The side effects were observed at three patients(two patient, dry mouth ; one patient, sedation), but minimal.
